Mission Statement
Excel was founded out of a vision to offer qualitative education and to provide knowledge and discipline and to improve on the beneficaries natural abilities and talents, this of course is achieved strictly on an approved Federal government policy on education.

The Vision Is for the preparation of pupils and students for useful living within the society and for higher education. Also, our vision is to improve on the natural abilities and talents of our students.
The College runs the National Junior Secondary School programme.
In the first three years, the College emphasises the basic skills in the core subjects which are:

English Language
Integrated Science
Introductory Technology
Social Studies
Agricultural Science

In addition, Junior students take the full range of school subjects:

Religious and Moral Education
Fine Art
Physical Education
A Nigerian Language
Business Studies
Home Economics/Health Education
After the first three years the students take the same Junior School Certificate Examinations as the Federal Colleges, conducted by the National Examinations Council (NECO), Minna.


During the fourth, fifth and sixth years, students are prepared for the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination, Joint Admission & Matriculation Board examination and the Cambridge Overseas GCE Examination, all of which they take in the third term of their sixth year. Each student takes the six core subjects:

English Language

1. Mathematics or Mathematics with Further Mathematics

2. Geography, History or English Literature

3. Biology, Physics or Chemistry

4. Agricultural Science, Technical Drawing

5. Hausa, Igbo or Yoruba


In addition to the core subjects, a student chooses three subjects from the options, which are

Physics or History

Chemistry or Art, or Geography


Christian or Islamic Religious Knowledge, French or Art.

Continuous Assessment

This is based on class work both written and oral, practical projects, regular three-weekly tests and homework, as well as a Midyear and End-of-session examination.
